While it may sound strange that a new Fortnite PS4 bundle is being worked on for release, it does come with stuff fans will want.
Fortnite Battle Royale is free-to-play, meaning that the new console deal will not include the traditional “free” game.
It will, however, include some exclusive items like a new skin, as well as V-Bucks that can be spent in the Fortnite item shop.
The leak stems from an image reportedly shared on the official Italian page for Sony Interactive Entertainment.
It looks pretty legitimate and would make sense that the tech giant would want to use the popular Battle Royale game to sell more consoles.
There aren’t a huge amount of big BR titles on the PS4, with fans currently able to pick between the likes of Fortnite and H1Z1.
Microsoft have PUBG as a console exclusive for the time being, so Epic Games teaming up with Sony makes sense.
When it comes to what is included in the Fortnite PS4 bundle, it appears buyers will receive a Sony console, the exclusive Royal Bomber skin and 500 V-Bucks.
From the information that leaked with the new listing, the new PS4 bundle will be available to purchase in early July.
That means that Sony and Epic Games will probably make an announcement this week, or perhaps closer to the time.
The good news for Fortnite fans thinking about picking up the new deal, the PS4 bundle will cost around the same as a normal console would.
However, it should be noted that all this information comes from supposed leaked information and not directly from either company.
So it’s worth taking everything with a pinch of salt until it is officially confirmed.
The only downside to Fortnite on PS4 is that there is no cross-platform play available with either Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch.
Fortnite Battle Royale is currently available to play for free on PC, Mobile, Xbox One, Mac and PS4.
A version of the game is also coming to the Android platform, although a release date beyond summer 2018 has not been confirmed.
Fortnite developer Epic Games is planning to make big changes to the Battle Royale experience.
In a bid to evolve Battle Royale and change the late game, Epic is looking at ways it can support a wider range of strategies.
“We are going to continue to make changes to evolve the game to give players multiple ways to counter each other in combat, and create more strategies to win the game,” reads an Epic blog post.
“Fortnite is constantly evolving. Our goal with any changes is to keep the game fun and interesting, keeping it feeling fresh and new.”
As Epic points out, players are currently too reliant on shotguns, rockets and building in the latter stages of the game.
This build-to-win mentality is so dominant that other strategies are being “drowned out”.
Epic plans to make weapon balance changes in future updates, and is even thinking about capping resources.
“We have made a few changes recently – and will continue to make more – to give you options to counter other players in combat, especially in the late game,” the post continues.
“We are exploring changes to weapon balance and resource economy, like e.g. resource caps.”
